- John Sell Cotman (16 May – 24 July ) was an English marine and landscape painter, etcher, illustrator and author, and a leading member of the Norwich school of artists.
He showed a talent for art from an early age and would often go out on frequent drawing trips into the surrounding countryside. He worked in oil, watercolor, pencil and chalk, and 62 pins. The term 'Norwich School' refers to three generations of artists who lived and worked in Norwich during the 19th century.
